KZ1000R.com Bike of the Month Jan 10.

Pierre dimbleval.

Here is the story:

Back in 2005, i was looking for a 1000R to restore as i have always been in love with this bike.

Obviously in GREEN. Spending hours in ads web sites,

i finally found one 1100R.

I thought at the beginning it was an Honda CB1100R but when i clicked on it ,

it was an 1000ELR. Probably an spelling mistake as this bike has never been imported in France.

Talking with the owner, he told me that form what he knew,

it was really an 1100. But he promised to contact the previous owner to make that clear.

He called me back the next day and said:

The bike was from an old stock of 5 in Belgium and this stock has been bought by the

team Godier /genoud to prepare Endurance racers.

But one person saw the bikes in the store and wanted to own one in the original condition.

He made all the administrative work to have the papers right and sell the bike to the guy i was in touch with.

We made an appointment and when he came,

the bike was relatively ok, except the exhaust system and few details.

the deal was easy to close and i promised to restore it like new.

You have the pictures of the results.

I just add the kerker exhaust and the engine is 1170 cm3 with Wiseco pistons. For the rest i think it is in conformity.

The only things i never found was the side covers of the engine that have scratches....

cheers
Pierre
