There were many differences between these 2 bikes.
I only know a few and have posted what I know here.

Feel free to add any.

On the left  the 1982 S1 race bike.
On the right the 1982 full Works race bike.

S1-            3 spoke British  Dymag rims
Works-     7 spoke Magnesium Italian Marvic/Morris rims

S1-            Simple daytona brand steering damper
Works-     Special prototype adjustable steering damper

S1-            Standard S1 rear sets that also mount the muffler megaphone
Works-     Custom made simple rearsets with no muffler mount.
(muffler mount on works bike was a steel tube welded to the main frame frame)

S1-              Kawasaki lightly ported head
Works-       Rob Muzzy full race ported head

S1-           Standard bent plate aluminum aluminum "S" shape front caliper mounts
Works-     Custom aluminum milled billet mounting brackets.(works bikes tried various calipers and mounts)

S1-            Stock Kawasaki upper triple clamp / heavy aluminum lower triple clamp
Works-     Massive custom aluminum upper with heavy duty aluminum lower triple clamp

S1-             Standard Comp Kerker pipe
Works.      Custom tapered downtube Kerker race pipe.

S1-              Keihin CR33 carbs  (I think 33's)
Works -       Keihin CR carbs (not sure of size)  Also Blue Magnum and other test carbs.

S1-              Standard S1 calipers
Works-       Prototype square type calipers or S1 calipers

Easy to spot - just look for a Lawson S1 picture where the side cover is attached using plastic zip ties. Then they built the 3 Cr-Mo frames ( some say 5, can't verify either ) they didn't put a lot of tabs back onto the Cr-Mo frame. And if you look real close at some of the attached parts in this picture attached, you can see the differences with the Kawasaki stock frame. All the frames were suppose to be destroyed at the end of the 1982 season ( the Lawson 'S1' included ) but supposedly there was one of the Cr-Mo frames up for sale a few years ago, and no idea where that went to after sold.
